sell large numbers of most of their other ranges also. We would
advise the use of the following ranges according to their application.
We are happy to discuss any requirements with customers however who
are uncertain of the best technology for their purpose.

*** NEW *** Acoustic
Pulse Recognition (LCD) |
| |
Elo's Acoustic
Pulse Recognition (APR) touchscreens use a completely
new and unique way of sensing touches on a display.
Consisting only of a glass overlay mounted in
front of the display, together with a small
electronic controller board, Elo's APR technology
provides a new set of benefits that have only
been partially achieved before by other touch
technologies.
APR combines the
ultimate in optical qualities, durability, and
stability, with excellent dragging properties,
along with stylus, glove and fingernail activation,
and low cost advantages. In addition, it is
resistant to water and other contaminants on
the screen, can be scaled from PDA to 42-inch
displays, and provides palm rejection during
signature capture.
APR works in
a simple and elegant way - by recognizing the
sound created when the glass is touched at a
given position.
APR is currently
only available on selected 1529L models.

CarrollTouch Infrared (LCD) |
| |
CarrollTouch
infrared technology is the survivor of harsh applications.
It's the only technology that does not rely on an overlay or
substrate to register a touch, so it's impossible to physically
"wear out" the touchscreen.
CarrollTouch
technology combines superior optical performance with excellent
gasket-sealing capabilities, so it's an excellent choice for
harsh industrial and outdoor kiosk applications. Touched with
a finger, gloved hand, fingernail, or stylus, it delivers a
fast, accurate response every time.
Recommended for applications
such as:

| Other technologies |
| iTouch (CRT) |
| |
In Elo's iTouch
touch-on-tube technology, surface waves (also
known as surface acoustic waves) are directed
onto the cathode ray tube (CRT) surface itself
for unhindered touch sensing - eliminating any
glass overlay on the CRT and delivering the
highest quality image possible.
iTouch also provides
unmatched durability - a critical feature for
the public access environment - because the
CRT faceplate is several times stronger than
a touchscreen overlay, even a bonded one.
Elo's iTouch
technology leaves the original brightness and
clarity intact while providing the same, no-drift,
stable performance and proven reliability of
surface wave technology.
Recommended
where 100% image quality is essential.
Suitable for
applications such as:
-
Point-of-information
(POI) kiosks
-
Point-of-purchase
(POP) promotion
-
Electronic
catalogs
-
In-store e-commerce
-
Gaming, lottery
and amusement
-
Multimedia
marketing
-
Banking/financial
transactions
-
Ticket sales
-
Industrial
control rooms
-
Computer-based
training
-
Education
Features
-
Touch directly
on tube - no touchscreen overlay
-
Preserves 100
percent of CRT brightness, clarity, antireflection
and colour properties
-
More durable
and safer than even bonded touchscreen overlays
-
Same fast,
accurate and stable performance as surface
wave

| Projected Capacitive
(LCD) |
| |
Projected capacitive
technology enables touches to be sensed through a protective
layer in front of a display, allowing touchmonitors to be installed
behind store windows or vandal-resistant glass. DirectTouch
consists of a 7.8 mm sensor with tempered glass outer layer,
and ThruTouch works through a customer-installed outer layer.
The complete system resists impacts, scratches, and vandalism
and is also unaffected by moisture, heat, rain, snow and ice,
or harsh cleaning fluids, making it ideal for outdoor applications.
The solid-state
touchscreen and controller provide increased levels of reliability
and longer life expectancy, resulting in a drift-free response
and a low-maintenance unit that requires no recalibration.
Recommended
for applications such as:
-
Outdoor kiosks
-
Ticketing machines
-
ATMs
-
Web phones
-
Pay-at-the
pump gas machines
-
Through-glass,
under-counter, and bartop applications
Features
-
Works outdoors-in rain,
snow, ice, and dust
-
Touch function operates
through customer-installed
materials, including vandal-resistant
glass up to 18 mm thick
-
True flat front surface
possible with no bezel
-
Works with gloves
-
Works even if glass is scratched
or broken
